Liv knelt beside the onmoving body of the man she had miraculously grown close to. Tears shimmered in her dark eyes and her eyebrows were twisted in agony. “I'm sorry,” she whispered. Slowly, she reached out, taking his hand. “I'm sorry that I dragged you into this. I'm sorry for everything I put you through.” With her other hand she roughly wiped tears off her face and for a moment she closed her eyes. When she opened them again, wiping away the tears was no use. “I'm sorry for all the unnecessary trouble I caused you. For everything you had to put up with.” She was shaking. “I'm sorry for saying this now, at a point where this will probably never reach you. I'm sorry for not saying all of this so much earlier, back when I still had a chance.” She squeezed his hand. “I was too proud, too stubborn. And I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for everything.” And with those words, she broke. She bowed her head. Straight strands of black hair covered her tear-stained face. Her shoulders shook violently and the pain of guilt and loss was nearly physical. “Don't worry princess,” an amazingly familiar voice suddenly said and she looked up, incredulous. “ Apology accepted.”
“ Mag ik vragen,” begon Liv ijzig kalm, terwijl ze geen moment het oogcontact met Amo verbrak, “waarom je Bryce' bek hebt verbouwd?” De grijns die op Amo's gelaat verscheen deed zelfs in haar woede de rillingen over haar rug lopen. “Lucian zegt hoi.”
“You can't handle me. You can't handle a demon, Bryce. You know that.” The voice may have been Amo's, but it sure as hell wasn't him speaking. Bryce looked up. With the back of his hand he wiped the blood from his mouth. The fact that it was still Amo in there held him back. In any other circumstance he would have put up the best fight he could muster, but this was the guy who was the first one to actually give a rat's ass about him in almost a year. So Bryce held back, even though he knew that was the biggest mistake he could ever make.
"So.. You're basically ashamed that we...?" Roya nodded.Bryce looked away. "I promised myself I'd never make love to someone without a steady relationship," she answered quietly. Bryce had no idea why, but it stung. "We can have one," he said quickly. Roya smiled faintly. "I'm scared to trust you, Bryce..." God, did he want to just embrace her. He clenched his jaw en stared at the floor.
"So.. You and Bryce know eachother as well?" Roya asked awkwardly. Liv shrugged. "Yeah, but God, ever since he and Amo became freakin BFF's they are intolerable," she said, shaking her head. Roya look at the two, who seemed to be very busy trying to fix their car that Liv had driven into a very large and unyielding cactus. "Intolerable?" Roya asked incredulously. "I've never seen him this much at ease." He seemed genuinly happy now, she realised with a sting of regret.
The hotelroom was dark, the bed empty. The young man who had hired the room was asleep on the couch in nothing but his black boxers. In the dim light coming from a streetlight outside the fresh sweat on his body glistened. He was restless. His eyes moved behind their lids and his body twitched from time to time. Dark circles and bags under his closed eyes and gaunt cheeks gave away that things weren't going well for the young man. At all.
Without saying a word, Amo gently helped the young vampire upright. "Easy, I don't know much about this kind of stuff, but I'll try to help you, okay?" Bryce nodded nearly invisibly. "Thanks," he muttered, nearli inaudible. He lips were chapped and his face had an unhealthy shade to it. Amo helped him off the couch. Bryce leant heavily on him and Amo sat him down at the kitchen table. "Would water help?" he asked uncertainly. Bryce shrugged, barely able to keep his eyes open. "Is there no more Jack Daniels?" he asked hoarsely. "We're not going to launch you straight into another addiction," a sharp voice said and Liv entered the kitchen as well. "Liv.." "No Amo, he's been a fucking idiot and I'm not gonna sugarcoat that for him." Amo shook his head and filled a glas of water. "There ya go," he said as he handed it to Bryce, who's hands were shaking so much Amo decided it might be a better idea not to let the boy drink it by himself and he put the glass to Bryce' lips. Obediently, the vampire drank the water after wich he breathed out slowly. "Better?" "No.. not really"
"Hey man, long time no see," a voice behind him said. Amo turned around. There she was. Hip cocked, seductive smile. "H-hey Liv," he said uncertainly. Something did not quite feel right, "I wanted to see you again. Hope you're not busy.." "No, not at all. We could go watch a movie at my place? I mean, going out was never your thing, right?" Amo said with a smile. She chuckled. "Nah, I'm more of a couch potato. Well, let's do that, you know, for old time's sake" Amo turned around, his smile fading quickly and he reached into his pocket. "Yeah," he said quietly. "Old time's sake.." He swallowed nervously. He then quickly spun around, opened the swithcblade and pointed it at her throat. "Who are you?" he asked, his eyes narrowing.
"Liv.. je weet ook wel dat hij er weinig aan kan doen dat Lucian hem verslaafd heeft gekregen," zei Amo kalm. Liv snoof. "Amo, zelfs ik zou in een dronken bui geen demoon vrijlaten." "Maar wel een schuur in de hens zetten," klonk het schor vanaf de bank. Liv's ogen vernauwden zich. "Er is geen bewijs dat ik dat heb gedaan," zei ze ijzig. "Ik bedoel maar."
